FIGHT Diabetes! The family of Billy Gonillo have decided to create a living memorial in his name.
They want to help fight this terrible disease. They are joining with the ADA, the American Diabetes Association. The ADA was founded in 1940 and is one of the most respected charitable organizations in the country.
Over 21 million people in the United States are afflicted with diabetes. Billy was a Type 1 diabetic. Type 1 diabetes is the most severe form of the disorder in which the body's own immune system attacks insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. People with this disease produce little or no insulin, so they take shots of the hormone daily.
Billy never wanted to burden others with his disease. He always wanted to keep his battle a private matter. His family feels the best way to honor him is to help other families by funding research to one day find a cure.
All donations are tax deductible and will join a master list in Billy's name. (William F. Gonillo)
Billy's family humbly and profoundly thanks everyone for their gracious and heartfelt support.
